Happy Monday! I hope you had a good weekend. Mine was good without anything exciting happening - well I take that back - we had a great time watching a woodchuck frolicking all over fallen trees in the woods. Sometimes its the simple things!

Independent Bookstore Day

While the "official" Independent Bookstore Day is Saturday April 25, the fun stats aleady on Wednesday! Small, independent, locally owned bookstores throughout Minnesota will be celebrating.

Throughout the Twin Cities area you can pick up a 2026 Independent Bookstore Passport and start making your way through to 38 participating bookstores. (The passports are available already today.)

The passports will get you future discounts and if you collect a bunch you can be entered to win prizes! There are so many great local bookshops to discover and this is an extra fun way to do it.

Farm Babies at the Minnesota Zoo

It's almost time for Farm Babies at the Minnesota Zoo! Starting Saturday, this family favorite event at the zoo is celebrating it's 26th year.

The barnyard includes adorable baby animals, farm demonstrations, and more. You can watch all kinds of barnyard cuties from piglets and llamas to calves, chicks, and more.

New this year are Miniature donkeys and miniature Highland & White Park Cattle!

The Farm Babies experience is included in the price of zoo admission and runs through May 17th.

49th Annual Le Sueur County Pioneer Power Swap Meet & Flea Market

Happening only once per year, this weekend is the 49th anniversary of the Le Sueur County Pioneer Power Swap Meet & Flea Market.

Held on the Pioneer Power Association Showgrounds 6 miles east of Le Sueur, the event runs Thursday through Saturday, rain or shine with vendors both indoors and outdoors.

Food is also available in the Threshers Kitchen and from other vendors. And if you want multiple days to shop, primitive camping spots are available on site (call ahead).
