Thanks for joining us for the Monday newsletter! The day after a holiday weekend is always a rough one. I hope you had a good few days and didn't have anything rained out!

Today we have a bit of a Minnesota farming theme to the newsletter. I didn't PLAN it that way, but that's how it turned out. Maybe it's because I've been missing the days of heading to my grandparents' farm on the 4th of July. Anyway, we have some fun to share with County Fairs happening all over, a fun and free farm-themed spot for kids and a summer road trip idea.

As a heads up, for these first two weeks both me and those who help me will be taking some time off here and there. I plan to still send the newsletter, even if I'm traveling, but they may be shorter than usual and we might not have quite as many new posts on the web site, but I think we all need a break sometimes!

Anyway, we'll be back Wednesday with the regular newsletter whether its longer or shorter and in the meantime you can stay up-to-date on our Facebook Page and on the website. Thank you for reading! I appreciate you being an email subscriber!

Minnesota County Fairs Schedule

We are kicking off the height of Minnesota County Fair season! This week there are 7 fairs across the state with 12 next week and then lots more to come.

We LOVE going to county fairs and have made it a point to hit a lot of them all around Minnesota. While a lot of things are staples at each fair like lots of food options, farm animals and fun events, they each have their own unique qualities too.

With over 80 fairs throughout the season you can hit multiple each weekend now through mid August if you're willing to put in the driving!

Sibley Park and Farm - Mankato

This summer you can again take a free ride on the Cafesjian Carousel at Como Park!

This 1914 carousel spent its first 75 years at the Minnesota State Fair. In 1988 it was headed for a New York auction until Gerald L. Cafesjian contributed the major share of money needed to rescue the carousel from auction, restore it, and build its pavilion in Como Park.

One day per month you can ride the carousel for free and for this month that day is TOMORROW - Tuesday, June 30.

While you're there, be sure to check out the larger-than-life Washed Ashore sculptures made entirely from recovered ocean plastic that are on display all around the zoo and conservatory grounds this summer!

Barn Quilts of Minnesota

Have you ever been driving along a country road and suddenly see a bright piece of art on the side of a barn? That's a barn quilt!

They're fun to spot randomly, but if you want to more easily find and see a bunch of them, head to Central Minnesota.

Barn Quilts of Central Minnesota has created a map for a "Barn Quilt Trail" that includes over 100 quilts on barns throughout the area. You can try to see them all or take a self-guided "mini-tour" and hit 35+ barn quilts in only 30 minutes!

Happy Friday! I'm back from vacation, but dragging a bit. Our morning flight had almost every type of issue imaginable including mechanical problem, airline screw-ups, flight crew timing out, needing to refuel, weather, etc. and ended up not leaving until after midnight.
