🏛️ Free MNHS Admission 🎨💐 Art in Bloom 🥨 FREE Pretzels 🐑 FREE Movie Screening ⭐ + LOTS MORE!

Thanks for reading our Friday newsletter! There's a lot to talk about for the weekend, but first I just want to mention that I'll be on Minnesota Live on KSTP-5 Monday morning, sometime between 9 and 10 to talk about garage sales, in case you want to tune in. Since it's live it will also mess with me getting all the last minute stuff in Monday's newsletter, but I'll do my best!

Back to today. First off, if you missed our Wednesday email, you might want to check it out HERE for more about the Bluff Country Studio Art Tour, Cars & Caves opening weekend, Mother's Day ideas and more.

Saturday is the day that's totally packed with events and besides what's in this newsletter you can see all the weekend things we've covered HERE on our events page - scroll down to the bottom to see everything listed by date.

Besides what's on that list, there are 20 Earth Day events happening around the state this weekend and you can find those on this list. And, as I mentioned Wednesday, 11 citywide and neighborhood wide sales on our list here.

Have a great weekend however you spend and I'll see you again Monday for the next newsletter that hopefully will be complete even with the timing issue! Until then you can keep up with anything new at ThriftyMinnesota.com or on the Facebook page. Thanks for being a subscriber! I appreciate it.

Minnesota Historical Society Free Admission Day

Saturday, April 26, Minnesota Historical Society is hosting a free admission day featuring historical sites and museums across the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota.

This is your opportunity to visit all the sites that normally charge an admission fee, totally for free! Also, some sites are having extra special events, like author Alex Prud’homme discussing the culinary and cultural influence of Julia Child, his grand aunt, at Minnesota History enter at 3pm.

As another extra fun option tomorrow, Oliver Kelley Farm in Elk River is having spring cleaning day on the farm where you can help tidying up in the historic house and learn how farmers got their gardens and fields in order for the busy planting season ahead. We love the Kelley Farm and I've been going there since I was a kid!

One other special event tomorrow is a chance to join peregrine falcon researcher, Jackie Fallon, and her live birds for an up-close look at peregrine falcons at Split Rock Lighthouse from 12pm to 2pm.

Art in Bloom 2026 at Minneapolis Institute of Art

The super popular annual event, Art in Bloom, is back at Minneapolis Institute of Art.

It's a four-day festival of fresh floral arrangements inspired by fine art with over 150 Pedestal Floral Artists creating imaginative floral interpretations of selected works of art from MIA’s permanent collection.

The event is free and open to the public. You can choose to browse the exhibit on your own, or you can join in on a free public tour to learn more about the artworks that inspired the floral artists - no reservation required.

Sunday includes a Once Upon a Bloom family program with free art-making activities and Children’s Theatre Company performances.

Free Advance Movie Screening: The Sheep Detectives

The Sheep Detectives, starring Hugh Jackman and lots of adorable sheep, looks fun!

About the movie: In this witty, new breed of mystery, George (Hugh Jackman) is a shepherd who reads detective novels to his beloved sheep every night, assuming they can’t possibly understand. But when a mysterious incident disrupts life on the farm, the sheep realize they must become the detectives. As they follow the clues and investigate human suspects, they prove that even sheep can be brilliant crime-solvers.

It will be in theaters Mother's Day weekend, but we have free passes to an advanced screening at AMC Rosedale next Saturday. We haven't shared this anywhere else yet, so hurry over to grab your tickets because we'll be posting elsewhere this afternoon!

We made it to Wednesday! I hope your week has gotten off to a good start. Mine has been a bit crazy and it's all related to vehicles. Our SUV has been in the shop with broken A/C (and now found part is backordered for a few weeks), the spring on our garage door broke so couldn't open that AND the side window of our pickup was smashed in! I'm hoping the rest of the week is much more uneventful. This weekend is the BIGGEST weekend of the season with over 40 entries on our Minnesota City Wide...

Here we are back at Monday again. I hope you had a good weekend. Mine was good and included a lot of driving yesterday, but I was lucky to avoid most of that fishing opener/Mother's Day traffic with back roads and leaving early. I am NOT a traffic person! Now we're on to a new week! If you missed Friday's newsletter you can still see it HERE. While some events/deals are past, you can still read about St. Cloud Restaurant Week happening this week and a few other things. We're still getting new...

TGIF! The weekend is here and it looks like a nice one. I'm glad it looks to be warming up a little bit as we're going to head to opening weekend of Valleyfair for my nephew's birthday. They have new owners and I'm interested to see the changes. The big one will be the remodeling of the waterpark, opening Memorial Day weekend. If you missed our Wednesday email, check it out HERE for more about big plant sales happening this week and next, Doors Open Minneapolis and the Springtime and Sunshine...
